Comedy takes center stage this weekend with the Motor City Comedy Festival and Curb Your Enthusiasm comedian JB Smoove performing at the Motor City Casino. This weekend also includes the Made in Michigan Festival, the Funky Ferndale Art Fair and the Finders Keepers Vintage Market.

Plus, fans of the TV show “Gilmore Girls” can enjoy Destination Stars Hollow: A Gilmore Fan Celebration in downtown Brighton. Contributor Dave Wagner of 90.9 WRCJ shares some other events happening around town on “One Detroit Weekend.” 

Upcoming Events: 

  • The Motor City Comedy Festival takes place Sept. 19-22 at locations around Detroit, featuring comedians Ian Fidanc, Graig Conant, Liz Miele, Carmen Lynch, Mike Cannon and T. Barb. 
  • The Funky Ferndale Art Fair returns to downtown Ferndale Sept. 20-22. The art fair includes 140 artists and authors alongside live entertainment and refreshments.  
  • The Made in Michigan Festival takes place in Allen Park Sept. 20-21 featuring a Michigan-made marketplace, live music, food trucks, local brews and more.  
  • Downtown Brighton turns into the town of Stars Hollow from the popular TV show “Gilmore Girls” on Sept. 21 during Destination Stars Hollow: A Gilmore Celebration. 
  • Curb Your Enthusiasm comedian JB Smoove performs Sept. 22 at the Sound Board at MotorCity Casino Hotel. 
  • The Finders Keepers Vintage Market returns to the Chelsea Community Fair on Sept. 22 for a fall market that features over 200 vendors, specialty snacks, food and boutique trucks and more. 
  • The Birmingham Village Players presents Memphis: The Musical through Sept. 22. The musical explores the power of music in the face of a cultural revolution. 
  • Downtown Grosse Pointe hosts the Art Takeover Project through Sept. 30. It features more than 80 local artists, an art scavenger hunt, live entertainment and more.
