Labor Day weekend is here. Commemorate the unofficial end of summer with a trip to the Michigan State Fair or the Detroit Jazz Festival. The Romeo Peach Festival and the Mussel Beach Music Festival are also coming up. 

 Plus, Hamtramck hosts a Labor Day Fest, jessica Care moore’s Black Women Rock concert returns, and there’s a Detroit Sandwich Party at Eastern Market.

Check out some events coming up around town for this week’s “One Detroit Weekend.”

Upcoming Events: 

  • The Saline Community Fair takes place Aug. 28 – Sept. 1 at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Ann Arbor. It features Koengeter show horses, a Read to Ride program and more. 
  • Cadieux Cafe hosts The Mussel Beach Music Festival Aug. 29 – Sept. 1. The local festival features Jordan McIntyre, Sunny Ledfurd, Nick Lucassian and others. 
  • The Michigan State Fair makes its return to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi Aug. 29 – Sept. 2. It features the State Fair Superstar Competition, the famous butter cow and more.  
  • The 93rd annual Romeo Peach Festival returns Aug. 29 – Sept. 2 with events like craft shows, book sales, a 5K/10K run, live music, carnival rides, fireworks, a golf classic, a charity car cruise and more. 
  • The Detroit Jazz Festival brings a lineup of local, national and international musicians to venues in downtown and midtown Detroit Aug. 30 – Sept. 2. The festival is free to attend. 
  • Detroit artist jessica Care moore presents the 20th anniversary of Black Women Rock, an annual music festival. This year’s festival will take place Aug. 31 at The Fillmore in Detroit. 
  • The 44th annual Hamtramck Labor Day Fest takes place Aug. 31 – Sept. 2 along the Joseph Campau Historic District. The free festival features live music, carnival rides, canoe races, a parade and more. 
  • Detroit’s Eastern Market hosts the Detroit Sandwich Party at Shed 5 on Sept. 1. The event includes a variety of sandwich tasting options from Detroit sandwich makers.
