This weekend, there are chances to check out music and the arts at events such as the Sterlingfest Art & Music Fair in Sterling Heights and the Orchard Lake Fine Art Show in West Bloomfield. There are also outdoor activities like Kayaking Belle Isle and the Summer Beer Festival in Ypsilanti.

Upcoming Events:  

  • The Outdoor Adventure Center invites people to kayak around Belle Isle on Friday, July 26. Attendees must meet at the Flynn Pavilion in Belle Isle Park to receive equipment and instructions. 
  • The Detroit Symphony Orchestra presents the “Music of Elvis with Frankie Moreno,” a tribute performance for Elvis Presley, at Orchestra Hall on Friday July 26. 
  • The Summer Beer Festival takes place at Riverside Park in Ypsilanti’s historic Depot Town July 26-27. Event admission includes 15 sampling tokens for people 21 years and older. 
  • Sterlingfest returns to Sterling Heights through July 27, where you can enjoy carnival rides, live music, an art fair, food, children’s activities and more. 
  • The free Arab & Chaldean Festival returns to Detroit’s Hart Plaza July 27-28. The two-day celebration includes live music, dry goods vendors, folklore dancers and a fashion show. 
  • The Orchard Lake Fine Art Show takes place July 27-28 in West Bloomfield. The fine art show features a variety of artists from multiple disciplines. 
  • Twelve Mile Crossing’s free summer concert series, Street Sounds at Fountain Walk, features a performance from Power Play Detroit on July 30 in Novi.  
  • The David Klein Gallery in Detroit features an exhibit titled “Host” by Detroit-based artist Ebitenyefa Baralaye through Aug. 17.
