June is Pride Month, and the Motor City Pride Festival is coming up this weekend in Hart Plaza. You can also meet some of Detroit’s past and present sports stars at the Detroit Sports Spectacular. Plus, there are a handful of summer festivals to check out including the Motor City Irish Fest, Gulyás Festival and Vintage Fest. One Detroit contributor Peter Whorf of 90.9 WRCJ shares more events coming up around town on “One Detroit Weekend.”

Upcoming Events: 

  • Melvindale Days takes place at the Melvindale Ice Arena June 6-9. The festival includes carnival rides, live entertainment, food and a fireworks show. 
  • Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi hosts the first-ever Detroit Sports Spectacular June 7-9. Fans can have memorabilia signed by Barry Sanders, Ben Wallace, Kirk Gibson and others. 
  • Pewabic Pottery hosts its Pewabic House and Garden Show June 7-9. The show features strolling tours, as well as wheel throwing and sculpting demos. 
  • The Motor City Irish Fest takes place June 7-9 at Greenmead Historical Park in Livonia. The festival includes local Irish bands, food, fun games and whiskey tastings.  
  • Motor City Pride Festival begins June 8 and continues June 9 at Hart Plaza. The two-day festival features a pride parade, live entertainment, community vendors and more.  
  • The Detroit and Ann Arbor Hungarian communities present the 5th annual Gulyás Festival at the Hungarian American Cultural Center in Taylor. The event will feature performances by Hajdu Bence, Kertész Kíra, and others.
  • The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn showcases a new exhibit, “Dinosaurs in Motion,” open June 9-Sept. 8. The exhibit includes 16 life-size metal dinosaurs you can move or interact with. 
  • The 3rd annual Vintage Festival takes place in downtown Romeo on June 8, featuring antique and classic cars, music, street vendors offering handmade wares and children’s activities.
